1. Who we are

Farebones ("we", "us", "the tool") is an independent project owned and operated by Apurv Gedam, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. By using farebones.com or farebones.com/quiz, you agree to these terms.

2. What Farebones does

Farebones is a free AI-powered travel budget estimation tool. It generates approximate cost breakdowns for travel destinations based on inputs you provide. Results are generated by Claude (Anthropic's AI) and are intended as a starting point for travel planning — not as definitive financial, legal, or professional travel advice.

3. Accuracy and limitations

Travel costs change constantly. The estimates provided by Farebones:

Are AI-generated approximations based on general knowledge, not live pricing data
May not reflect current exchange rates, seasonal price changes, or local conditions
Should be independently verified before making any booking or financial commitment
Are not guarantees of what you will actually spend

4. No liability

Farebones and Apurv Gedam are not liable for any loss, expense, injury, or inconvenience arising from your use of this tool or reliance on its outputs. The tool is provided "as is" without any warranty, express or implied. Your use of Farebones is entirely at your own risk.

5. Intellectual property

Everything on Farebones — including the name, logo, design, code, copy, and the quiz — is the original work of Apurv Gedam and is protected by copyright. You may not:

Copy, reproduce, or redistribute the design, code, or content of Farebones
Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the site in an automated way
Build a competing product that substantially replicates the Farebones concept or interface without permission
Use the Farebones name or branding for any commercial purpose

Personal, non-commercial use is welcome. Screenshots and social sharing are encouraged.

6. AI-generated content

Results on Farebones are generated by Claude, an AI model by Anthropic. AI systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information. Farebones makes no claim that AI-generated estimates are accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific circumstances. This disclosure is made in the interest of transparency.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use Farebones for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or compromise the tool or its underlying API
Submit harmful, abusive, or malicious inputs
Use automated scripts to generate bulk requests

8. Third-party services

Farebones uses the following third-party services:

Anthropic (Claude API) — processes your search query to generate budget estimates. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Frankfurter.app — live currency exchange rates. No personal data is shared.
Netlify — website hosting. Subject to Netlify's Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of Farebones after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
